Putnam City High School hosts a club fair every year that has many different organizations that students can join. Student’s participate in these clubs to meet new people, get involved, and be in something that they are passionate about.
Having a club fair is an important aspect in making students enjoy their time in High school. Students get to benefit from being involved and participating in clubs.
“If students are involved in programs they have something to look forward to at school, they have a reason to come, and they have a reason to do their homework so they can participate,” Activity Director Mrs.Schmidt said.
Clubs help students find people who share similar interests. This gives them the opportunity to make new friends and encourages a healthy school environment.
“I think clubs help them find people that they can relate to and can finally hang out with,” sophomore Jorden Virden said.
Club fair would not be as great as it is without the people who work it. Students that are already apart of clubs encourage a welcoming environment for newcomers.
“What pulled me in was the thought and effort people put into putting it together and how welcoming everyone was to me,” freshman Maddox Davis said.
The students working the club fair need to be prepared and ready to speak to people. These skills primarily relate to being able to be upfront with what your club is, and what your club does.
“Once I set up the booth people started coming up to me, so you really have to prepare to handle a lot of different people, and explain your club to them,” junior Juan Loera said.
