Homecoming Hall Deck

Putnam City High School celebrates homecoming in many ways. The week highlights an assembly, spirit days, queen and king crowning and by decorating the halls of the school off of a theme that was chosen.

This year the theme chosen was board games. The hallways were decorated with Hungry Hippos, Monopoly, Go Fish, Candy Land, and Battleship.

”My favorite hall dec theme was Candy Land. I helped create Candy Land and Go Fish. The theme came along from STUCO. Hall dec took about 4 hours to put up” senior Andrea Juarez said.

STUCO came to a decision on the theme. All leadership classes had a hallway where they were assigned and helped create the art work.

”My favorite hall dec theme was Monopoly. We picked the theme board games so we just picked our favorite board games. The process creating the themes was pretty rough,”  sophomore Lucy Duong said.

When activities director Mrs. Schmidt went on maternity leave, it pushed the leadership students to step up this year.

“The theme decision was picked by a lot of games being yelled out at once. The process of putting the themes up was fun even though it was a lot of hard work bringing it to life” junior Jacie Warfe said.

The reason for hall dec is to put all of the candidates nominated up on the walls for everyone to see. Each of the candidates nominated play in the different sports.

“The process of creating the themes was very long but paid off,” sophomore Natalie Tomlin said.
